Rescue work is work being done in order to protect people’s lives, property and the environment. Constant readiness for rescue work is guaranteed by 98 rescue stations located throughout the country. A total of 1941 persons are employed in the field of rescue work.
Persons involved in rescue work have to perform life, property and environment saving activities in case of following types of accidents:
● Fires (in buildings, forests, cars, etc.)
● Transport accidents (traffic, railroad, aircraft accidents)
● Environmental pollution (land, coast, internal water bodies – performance
of initial works and remedying unavoidable situations)
● Natural disasters
● Rescue of helpless animals and birds
● Water rescue (surface rescue)
● Chemical rescue
