Explosive Ordnance Disposal

The Estonian Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Centre has four regional bomb squads: the North-Estonian Bomb Squad in Tallinn, South-Estonian Bomb Squad in Tartu, East-Estonian Bomb Squad in Kohtla-Järve and West-Estonian Bomb Squad in Pärnu.

Pursuant to Estonian law, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Centre has the following tasks: rendering harmless Improvised Explosive Devices, rendering harmless Unexploded Ordnance, participaring in police operations, where a potential (threat of explosion) exists, and performing operations in post-blast scenes. Starting in 2006, one of the tasks of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Centre is to react to NBC (nuclear, biological and chemical) accidents.
