Becoming a volunteer rescuer

Everyone who wants to promote their community's security is welcome to become a volunteer rescuer. You will need to undergo training and take an exam set up by the rescue centre.

You can become a volunteer rescuer if you are

  • at least 18 years old;
  • able to work stably and effectively in a tense situation and can work in teams;
  • honest, conscientious and accountable, you have a decision-making ability and are able to make independent decisions within your competencies and anticipate the consequences of these decisions.

The level of physical fitness must ensure the proper performance of rescue tasks.

The doctor will check the candidate's health. The check does not need to be undergone if the person meets the health requirements established for a driver of a power-driven vehicle, a tram driver or an applicant for a right to drive under the Traffic Act. Compliance is evidenced by a medical certificate of a driver of a power-driven vehicle according to which no more than five years have passed since completion of the medical examination.

The person wishing to become a volunteer rescuer must first contact the coordinator of the regional rescue centre. They will tell you what to do next.

The volunteer rescuer e-learning environment can be found here.

First and foremost, we expect those who have a serious desire and willingness to devote their free time to being a volunteer rescuer to complete the e-learning course. It would be great if a participant in the course found a suitable volunteer rescue brigade or a partnership who is involved in fire prevention and were able to use and implement their acquired skills there.

If you do not want to immediately become a volunteer rescuer, you can always go through only the theoretical part of e-learning. There is never too much knowledge!
