The state carried out technical tests of the mobile app’s public warning features today

Today, the Estonian Rescue Services Agency carried out a technical test of the functionalities of the Eesti app and Ole valmis! mobile applications, in cooperation with the Information System Authority (RIA), the Women's Voluntary Defence Organisation (Naiskodukaitse), and the IT and Development Centre of the Ministry of the Interior (SMIT).

The notification via the Eesti app was sent out as planned and reached more than 130,000 devices. The Ole valmis! mobile application experienced technical issues with message delivery at first, and the test notification was sent out later.

The Eesti app notification was sent at 11:37 and reached approximately 130,000 mobile devices within seconds, provided the app had been downloaded and configured. Some users did not receive push notifications, which may be related to permission settings for the app. RIA is conducting further analysis on this.

There were issues with sending or receiving the notification via the Ole valmis! app, and the message was delivered at 12:08. Naiskodukaitse, together with developers and SMIT, is analysing the process.

Further technical tests of the apps will be conducted in the coming months to assess the reliability of activation, evaluate functionalities, and review developments. Additional technical tests are planned soon, which may include sending test notifications to users.

The EE-ALARM channels must be tested periodically to ensure system reliability, assess the success of developments, and plan future improvements.
