Hazards with household gas
In many homes in Estonia, household gas is used. The gas is used for cooking food and for heating water and homes. Gas is used extensively due to its relative cheapness compared to electricity. However, the use of gas appliances is much more uncomfortable and even more dangerous. The gas is very flammable and explosive, and in the event of a leakage, it can cause suffocation. There are strict requirements for the installation of gas appliances, and failure to comply with them is particularly dangerous for the user.
We use two different types of gas as household gas – natural gas and liquefied gas.
